Operations Superintendent/Watershed Manager

Harrisburg, the Capital City of Pennsylvania, is accepting applications for the position of Operations Superintendent/Watershed Manager, Department of Public Works – Bureau of Water. The Operations Superintendent/Watershed Manager is a professional position that is responsible for the activities of the Operations Division of the Bureau of Water, including supervising work in the operations at the DeHart Dam, Dr. Robert E. Young Water Services Center and associated appurtenances throughout the City; water quality monitoring and analysis; recommending and implementing short and long term plans for the DeHart Reservoir and Watershed; interacting with regulatory agencies; and surveillance and security of the dam, the rounds and all structures managed by the City in accordance with engineering standards and federal, state, and local regulations. Supervision is exercised over divisional personnel responsible for the operation of this division. The employee plans, supervises, coordinates, and directs the various divisional functions under the policy direction of the Bureau Director. The employee must coordinate emergency response on a 24-hour basis. This is a management, FLSA exempt position. Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, biology, chemistry, environmental sciences or related to reservoir/watershed management. Ten years experience in water treatment or operations of water treatment facilities. Five years supervisory experience. Any equivalent combination of experience or training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A valid Pennsylvania drivers’ license. Possession of a current Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Waterworks Operator Class A, Subclass 1, 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12 certification, or be able to attain this requirement by testing or reciprocity within one year of employment. The salary range is $47,000.00 to $49,795.20 depending on qualifications, plus excellent fringe benefits. The successful candidate must establish residency within the corporate limits of the City of Harrisburg within one year from date of hire. The City intends to fill this position as soon as possible.
