Utilities Analyst, Penn State
Utility Services is seeking an analyst to perform chemical, physical and bacteriological analyses of potable water systems and sources. Position will control the application of chlorine to potable water systems to maintain adequate chlorine residual to comply with the Pennsylvania State Health Department requirements; perform chemical and physical analyses of boiler water, boiler feed water, return condensate, softened boiler make-up water, raw water, cooling tower re-circulated water, and closed chilled and hot water systems; analyze sewage as received and processed at the University Waste Water Treatment Plant or other University owned or operated facility; adjust automatic boiler blow down systems as required to maintain correct boiler water solids concentration; manually blow down units not equipped with automatic systems; physically examine cooling towers for algae and slime growths and treat with biocides as directed; drive University vehicle as required. Requires the use of mathematics together with the use of complicated specifications, charts, tables, and various types of precision measuring instruments and the training generally applicable to a particular or specialized occupation; PA Drinking Water License Class A, Subclass 7 through 14 Waterworks License; equivalent to 1 to 2 years of applied trades training; plus over 1 and up to and including 2 years of effective experience. Shift will be 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with rotating days off. NOTE: EMPLOYEE MUST BE ABLE TO WEAR A RESPIRATOR AND WILL BE SUBJECT TO MEDICAL CLEARANCE.
