Sprinkler System Moratorium Bill Fails to Reach Final Passage

HB 1196, placing a one-year moratorium on the requirement for residential fire sprinkler systems in new single family homes, did not move forward for a vote in the House during the final session day on November 16th.  Therefore, the mandate found in the 2009 International Residential Code (IRC) requiring sprinklers in all new single family homes will be effective starting January 1, 2011.
