MAINTENANCE LEADER

The Spring Benner Walker Joint Authority, a local Municipal Sewer Authority, is seeking a highly motivated individual to lead our maintenance department.  The successful candidate will direct, supervise and plan the activities of this large Municipal wastewater collection system and be responsible for its efficient operation.

The Authority  sewer collection system is located in Central PA with 17 pumping stations ranging from 50 GPM to 500 GPM and  100 individual grinder units all situated within 250 miles of gravity collection system.  The system serves two State prisons, the University Park Airport at Penn State, the Centre County Correctional Facility along with 4,500 residential/commercial connections with an average daily flow of 1.1MGD.  The system is currently maintained by a five man crew with a video/grout vehicle, Vactor jet/vac truck, backhoe and several  dump/utility trucks. 

The Authority is also responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Benner Township Water Authority’s system of 350 mutual customers which is served by two water storage tanks and three wells.  

The Authority’s equipment is monitored with a radio telemetry system. 

Five years of experience in the water/sewer industry with extensive electrical control background is requested and a plus for this position.  The successful candidate will also possess a High School Diploma and have at least five years of supervisory experience preferably in the water/wastewater field.  A current PA water/sewer operator’s license is a plus or must be obtained within two years of employment.    A current PA driver’s license is required with CDL endorsements a plus. The successful candidate will be required to obtain a CDL within six months of employment and must be able to pass a comphrensive background check, drug screening and physical.
