Maintenance Worker, Utilities Piping

The Office of Physical plant is seeking an employee to operate various types of equipment for the inspection and location of distribution systems using safety procedures, metal detectors, line detector, leak detector, O2 analyzer, gas analyzer, wet bulb thermometer, heat spy, exhaust fans, portable generators, etc. Detect unusual conditions and defective materials and report to supervisor. Perform inspections, maintenance, security safety and housekeeping programs on tunnels, manholes, valves, meter boxes, septic tanks, cesspools, chlorine houses, sewage pumping stations, wells, distribution storage areas, and all distribution lines including steam, condensate, air, gas, water, storm, sanitary, effluent, etc. Perform leak detection surveys on distribution lines including steam, condensate, air, gas, water, storm, sanitary, and effluent, and report results to supervisor. Maintain water filters to chlorine houses, water tower altitude valves and other locations within the distribution system. Assist in repair and maintenance duties related to steam distribution, condensate, water, air, gas, storm, sanitary, effluent lines, etc. Drive University vehicle as required.

Job Requirements: Requires the use of commercial English, grammar and arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including decimals and fractions; simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, wiring diagrams, together with the use of adjustable measuring instruments, graduates and the like requiring interpretation in their various applications; or the posting, preparation, interpretation, use and checking of reports, forms, records and comparable data. 1 to 2 years of effective experience. Rotating Rotating NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES THAT YOU OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE AS A PART OF YOUR JOB DUTIES. A VALID DRIVER`S LICENSE AND SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE RECORDS CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED IN ADDITION TO STANDARD BACKGROUND CHECKS.
