Are you looking for a fantastic career at Aqua America? We have a great opportunity for a Plant Supervisor. The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the Treatment and Operations Managers to assure water quality is maintained throughout the distribution system, and processes are in place and implemented to maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Critical aspects of this position are to evaluate simultaneous compliance impacts of system improvements, supervise water sampling programs, disinfection of mains and storage tanks, and the operations of distribution system treatment. This position must also maintain regulatory expertise in order to recommend improvements that would optimize water quality, operations, and ensure compliance with future regulations impacting water quality.
Monitor and track water quality data and compliance in the distribution system.
Ensure the operation, maintenance, and optimization of treatment equipment in the distribution (e.g. tank mixers, RCS, THM removal systems, and monitoring equipment).
Assist in the supervision of staff who are responsible for operating and maintaining production facilities, distribution treatment systems, sampling, and water quality monitoring equipment.
Evaluate water quality and regulatory impacts of capital improvements, new sources, or treatment changes and oversee activities related to simultaneous compliance review.
Lead and coordinate location and frequency for sampling points with Laboratory Manager and maintain sampling plans as required to maintain regulatory compliance.
Interface with operations departments to recommend treatment targets and troubleshoot treatment issues that may adversely impact water quality or compliance.
Interface with operations departments during startup, shutdown, and maintenance of treatment equipment in order to maintain water quality and regulatory compliance.
Manage assigned staff for scheduling, administrative matters, performance management, and quality of assigned work.
Compiles records and maintains data as needed for reporting purposes and company analysis. Reporting is currently being performed through Water Information Management software (WIMs). Other software includes Excel, Word, Lawson, Banner, SCADA, GIS, and Aqua Information Management System (GIS-based).
Provide technical guidance to other departments, contractors and subcontractors on the disinfection mains, clearwells, storage tanks, and bulk water hauling equipment.
Manage treatment related capital projects, including coordinating projects with various departments and outside contractors; and assist in determining long range capital projects.
Conducts treatment studies, assists in special projects, and performs all other tasks or special functions as needed.
Provide support to operational groups throughout the state in support of the ONE-PA Initiative.
On-call 24-hours/day and on weekends in conjunction with other department personnel.
Responsible for adherence to all Aqua safety and health policies and procedures.

B.S. Degree, in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, or Public Health
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field, with preference given to candidates with direct experience in water treatment operations and compliance.
Strong knowledge of Pennsylvania and Federal drinking laws and regulations.
Possession of Pennsylvania Class A Water license is preferred. Must obtain within 2 years.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Skilled in MS Excel, and knowledge of or ability to learn GIS, LIMS, WIMS and other relevant software programs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Responsibility for budgeting of special projects as directed.
Recommend equipment and/or other improvements that should be included or considered for annual operating and capital budget preparation.
Assist in the management of $2M annual capital budget.
Direct supervision of up to 6 staff, union and non-union.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills; communicate effectively (clearly, concisely and professionally) with internal customers

Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
A team player able to work effectively in a team fostered multi-tasking environment
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
May be subject to extreme temperatures, noise, wet and/or humid conditions, mechanical, electrical, gas exposure hazards, fumes, dusts, mists, gases and/or poor ventilation atmospheric conditions.
