Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator

Carlisle Borough is currently hiring for a Waste water treatment plant operator.

This position is responsible for the proper and efficient operation and maintenance of a biological nutrient reduction wastewater treatment facility. The individual must be able to operate the facility to meet all NPDES permit requirements. This individual must also be able to follow instructions, record data accurately, monitor operations and adjust accordingly. They must be able to write legibly, comply with safety requirements, lift up to 75 pounds, and perform work at heights from scaffolding or ladders. Entry into confined spaces, work in and around treated and untreated sewage and sewage biosolids and performing duties in varying indoor and outdoor climates is required.

After the initial training period, the individual must be able to work a rotating schedule requiring unsupervised second shift, weekends and holiday assignments. Employee will be on call to respond to emergencies and equipment breakdowns. This position requires the employee to perform other general public works/water resources duties as assigned

Graduation from a standard senior or vocational high school or equivalent, supplemented by formal training and experience in the operation of a wastewater treatment facility is preferred. . Applicant should have a Pennsylvania Class SC1 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators Certification or the ability to obtain one within three years of hiring.

Must have a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.

Minimum Starting Hourly rate is $21.90 for an unlicensed operator or $25.91 for a licensed operator.
