Wastewater Operator

FULL TIME: Monday through Friday with the flexibility of working weekends & holidays

Under general supervision, perform operation and maintenance work to ensure safe and efficient operation of the wastewater treatment plant.

May perform work in one or more of the following areas, as assigned:
I. Perform facility maintenance work related to a variety of projects: Operate light equipment to mow grass, clean and maintain equipment needed for grounds upkeep
2. Perform collection system work: manhole repair, PA1 calls
3. Perform a variety of maintenance related tasks to support operations and maintain a clean and orderly appearance
4. Coordinate work with other areas of the treatment plant; relay needs, provide feedback, prepare, and receive data; communicate with others to facilitate strong team performance.
5. Participate in a township sponsored safety programs to assist in the development of safety policies and procedures.

Education: Completion of a high school or general education degree
Basic knowledge of general maintenance and repair practices for treatment facility
Mechanical principles involved in the operation of motors, pumps, belts, and blowers. Basic knowledge of computer data entry procedures

Work independently
Prioritize tasks to maintain optimum operating conditions and meet time schedules required for sample collections.
Adhere to safety standards and recognize safety warnings and hazards.
Inspect equipment, diagnose nature of problem.
Interpret a variety of detailed operating instructions, charts, manuals and reports.
Lift 50 pounds

Working Conditions:
Work is frequently performed either alone or with frequent interruptions, either inside a normal office environment or in the outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
