Differing water sources dictate the need for differing chemicals used in water treatment facilities. The differing chemicals, dictate the need for differing feed equipment. The primary purpose of this course, Module 21: Chemical Addition, is to introduce students to the various chemicals and feed equipment used in a water treatment facility. Additionally, students will be directed on the need for safety measures and the use of material safety data sheets when handling various chemicals. Chemical feed calculations will be covered like detention time, feed rate, chemical active strength, and theoretical pump output. Additionally, students will be introduced to jar testing and pump calibrations. The purpose of this workshop is to provide students with the necessary study materials for the chemical addition (subclass 8) certification examination.
