We are seeking a dedicated Wastewater Treatment Plant Laborer/Operator to join our team. This role involves maintaining wastewater treatment processes, ensuring compliance with environmental standards, and performing plumbing and mechanical tasks. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical and plumbing skills, and the ability to operate heavy equipment. This position offers an opportunity to work in a vital environmental service, contributing to community health and sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor wastewater treatment equipment, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS).
  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on plant machinery and plumbing systems.
  • Conduct data collection and analysis to optimize treatment processes and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Manage heavy equipment operation for construction, installation, or maintenance tasks within the plant.
  • Handle heavy lifting of materials and equipment safely during maintenance or installation activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance activities, and data logs.
  • Perform water treatment procedures, including chemical dosing and filtration management.
  • Conduct inspections of mechanical systems, pipelines, tanks, and other infrastructure components.
  • Assist in the repair or replacement of plumbing fixtures and piping systems as needed.
  • Support safety protocols by identifying potential hazards and ensuring proper safety procedures are followed.

Experience

  • Proven experience in wastewater treatment operations or water treatment facilities is preferred but not necessary.
  • Mechanical knowledge related to equipment repair, plumbing, and heavy machinery operation is highly desirable.
  • Experience with data collection, analysis skills, and basic math for process adjustments.
  • Prior work involving heavy equipment operation or construction is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to perform analysis on system performance issues.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a maintenance or construction environment. This position requires a proactive approach to plant operations combined with technical expertise in mechanical systems, plumbing, water treatment processes, and safety standards. Candidates should be committed to maintaining high operational standards while supporting environmental compliance initiatives.
  • Job Type: Full-time 40 hrs./week plus occasional on-call, weekends, and holidays.
  • Compensation $22.00 – $28.00/hr. depending on experience.
