Poster 36×24, Filamentous Organisms in the Activated Sludge Process

The poster provides in tables the important structural and staining responses of filamentous organisms commonly found in the activated sludge process. The poster also correlates the presence of the excessive growth of each filamentous organism with the operation condition or conditions that favor its proliferation. Drawings are provided to better visualize the motile filamentous organisms, the branching of filamentous organisms, the production and storage of sulfur granules by filamentous organisms, and the presence of a sheath in filamentous organisms.
