Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

The Chalfont-New Britain Township Joint Sewage Authority seeks a qualified individual to join our operations department.

The CNBTJSA operations department is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of our 4.6 MGD wastewater treatment plant and sanitary sewer system.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor, assess, and report operational data from the treatment plant.
  • Collect and analyze process control and regulatory samples.
  • Collect meter readings, chart recorder readings, and equipment log readings.
  • Maintain and repair recording equipment.
  • Record and maintain data logs as required.
  • Monitor, inspect, and repair process equipment and monitoring equipment.
  • Complete preventative maintenance functions on all equipment both in the plant and in the collection system.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Install and commission new equipment.
  • Proficiently operate hand and power tools.
  • Proficiently operate heavy equipment.
  • Drive and operate township vehicles and equipment.
  • Be available to respond during all emergencies including inclement weather, natural disasters, and other unforeseen events that would require plant staffing.
  • Be available to cover on-call rotations and weekend staff coverage as scheduled by management.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum education: high school diploma equivalent
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and execute written instructions including, but not limited to, SOP’s, memos, O&M manuals, and other sources.
  • Basic computer proficiency including, but not limited to, email usage, Word, Excel, and maintenance and scheduling software.
  • Possess, or be able to attain within a reasonable time, a PADEP wastewater class B,E-1,4 operators certification.
  • Possess, or be able to attain within a reasonable time, a CDL license to allow operation of plant commercial vehicles.
  • Be able to handle tools, equipment, vehicles controls and construction materials continuously.
  • Be able to sit, stand, walk, balance, and crouch continuously
  • Be able to lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
  • Be able to work safely with moving machinery, slippery and/or uneven surfaces, unprotected heights, confined spaces, sharp edges, and hot surfaces.
  • Be able to work continually outdoors in the elements including heat, cold, rain, snow, dust, and other inclement weather.
