Towanda Municipal Authority is seeking qualified candidates for a Water Treatment Plant Operator.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

Position Title: Water Treatment Plant Operator

 

 

Position Summary: Performs moderately difficult technical and mechanical work in the operation and maintenance of the Towanda Water Treatment plant. Operates equipment and performs maintenance and repairs.

 

 

Supervision Received: Works under the immediate supervision and direction of the Public Works Superintendent.

 

 

 

Typical Duties: The following describes the most significant duties of the position but does not exclude other assigned tasks.

 

  1. Operate, monitor, maintain, and repair facilities and equipment; maintain water quality in accordance with local, state and federal requirements; maintain facilities in accordance with appropriate health standards.
  1. Conduct and perform tests required by appropriate state and federal regulations in accordance with established schedules.
  2. Prepare and submit reports to appropriate agencies
  1. Conduct daily inspections of plant and related equipment; take and record readings; check equipment; maintain records and reports; perform plant operation and lab duties, when necessary, for wastewater treatment facilities.
  2. Assure proper function of plant and related equipment; report and or make adjustments as appropriate; notify appropriate personnel of equipment and machinery malfunctions.
  3. Maintain and troubleshoot control systems, process computers, and telemetry equipment.
  4. Maintain chemical feed systems in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  5. Troubleshoot and resolve routine problems.
  6. Operate various light equipment as assigned; perform or report the need for maintenance or repair to equipment.
  7. Keep management informed of daily operations, important developments, and short and long-range work activities.

 

 

Minimum Qualification: The Water Treatment Plant Operator shall meet the minimum qualifications:

 

  1. High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  2. Possess a valid Pa. Driver’s license
  3. Possess a valid Pa. Class B CDL Driver’s license with air brake and tanker endorsements, or obtain a license within 90 days of employment.
  4. Possess a Class B Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate (or secure one within one (1) year of employment).
  5. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blue prints, system maps, and procedure manuals.
  6. Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence
  7. Ability to communicate with other employees and the general public.
  8. Ability to work weekends and holidays, be on call, and respond to calls during non-working hours.
  9. Possess mechanical ability and proficiency with tools
