This course is designed to equip water and wastewater utility stakeholders, from both operations and business management, with a practical, plain-language approach to gain a deeper understanding of cyber risks, an enhanced awareness of the cyber threat landscape, and tangible, actionable insights into how to strengthen their utility’s overall cyber resilience. Participants will learn how common cyber events disrupt real-world water operations, how proactive decision-making and workforce readiness can shape outcomes, and how to prioritize “high leverage” improvements such as basic cybersecurity awareness among staff, improved asset visibility, controlled remote access, and incident response preparation and planning. This program blends instruction with interactive discussions and a hands-on capstone, which comprises a mini tabletop exercise followed by a structured “think like an adversary” activity to identify facility-specific exposure points and actionable controls. Participants will leave with greater insights into how to understand and address cyber risks and with clear actions to support a 3-4 month roadmap through the application of readily available resources and capabilities to drive greater awareness across the Water Utility community and enable cost-effective and sustainable cybersecurity programs.

Supplies and materials are included with your registration.
